Intervista esclusiva ad Alexandra Stan [Exclusive interview with Alexandra Stan]

Dopo mesi lontana dai riflettori a causa delle violenze subite dal suo ex fidanzato ed ex manager, Alexandra Stan torna più forte di prima, conscia di quello che è stato e, soprattutto, di quello che sarà, con un nuovo straordinario singolo, Thanks for leaving.

ITALIANO / Come è nata la tua passione per la musica?
La mia passione per la musica è iniziata quando avevo tre anni, ho continuato a cantare e cantare. Sono cresciuta guardando i cartoni animati incredibili e cantavo le canzoni de “La Sirenetta”. Il mio amore per Ariel e per questo cartone mi ha fatto cantare più e più volte. Credo che sia iniziato tutto quando i miei genitori e i miei vicini di casa si sono resi conto che io in realtà volevo cantare.

ENGLISH / How was your passion for music born?
My passion for music started when I was three, I just kept singing and singing. I grew up watching amazing cartoons and I was singing the songs from “The Little Mermaid”. My love for Ariel and for that cartoon made me sing over and over again. I think that was when my parents and my neighbours realised that I actually could sing.

ITALIANO / Il tuo stile spazia dalla musica pop alla musica dance. Quali artisti ti hanno ispirato?
Amo Sting perché le sue canzoni mi ricordano la mia infanzia e mi riportano alcuni ricordi molto speciali ogni volta che lo ascolto: lui è veramente uno dei più grandi artisti e la sua musica durerà per molte generazioni.
I Coldplay sono un altro mio gruppo preferito. La loro musica è molto energica, ma è anche molto emozionante. Il loro modo di interagire con i fan ai concerti dal vivo è incredibile.
Oggi ascolto un sacco di musica R’n’B e dance. Mi viene subito in mente Jason Derulo, Chris Brown, ma anche Calvin Harris e Martin Solveig. La loro musica e l’incredibile energia che si prova quando li si ascolta mi tiene sempre in movimento e ballo selvaggiamente.

ENGLISH / Your style ranges from pop to dance. Who are the artists that inspired you?
I love Sting because his songs remind me of my childhood and bring back very special memories each time I listen to him, he’s truly one of the greatest artists and his music will endure through many generations.
Coldplay are another my favourite band. Their music is very energic, but is also very emotional. I was playing it on repeat during my teen years. Also, the way they connect with their fans at their live shows is incredible.
Today I listen a lot of R’n’B and Dance music. Jason Derulo immediately comes to my mind, Chris Brown, but also Calvin Harris or Martin Solveig. Their music and their incredible energy you feel when you listen to them always gets me moving and dancing wildly.

ITALIANO / Dopo il successo di Mr. Saxobeat, la tua musica è arrivata in diversi paesi. Ti aspettavi un risultato così grande?
Penso che ogni artista spera che la sua musica tocca il cuore della gente. Sono felice e orgogliosa che la gente abbia apprezzato “Mr. Saxobeat”, abbia capito il messaggio e abbia apprezzato il suono. Questa è magia e mi piace!

ENGLISH / After the great success of Mr. Saxobeat, your music has landed in several countries, including Italy. Did you expect such a result?
I think that every artist hopes that his music will touch people’s heart. I’m happy and proud that people appreciated “Mr. Saxobeat”, understood the message and appreciated the sound. This is magic and I love it!

ITALIANO / Il 12 maggio è uscito il tuo nuovo singolo, Thanks for leaving. Che cosa hai voluto trasmettere con questa canzone?
“Thanks for leaving” parla della fine di una relazione tossica, sulle emozioni e il coraggio che si ha bisogno per ricominciare da capo. Il messaggio centrale della canzone e il video è che tutti noi abbiamo almeno una persona da ringraziare e sottolinea il fatto che, anche se doloroso, rompere con qualcuno può essere l’inizio di una vita migliore.

ENGLISH / On May 12, you released your new single, Thanks for leaving. What did you want to convey with this song?
“Thanks for leaving” talks about the end of a toxic relationship, about emotions and the courage that one needs for starting over. The central message of the song and video is that we all have at least one person to thank for leaving and emphasizes the fact that, though painful, breaking up with someone can be the beginning of a better life.

ITALIANO / La violenza contro le donne è uno dei temi più attuali del mondo. La tua esperienza personale ci ha sconvolti. Come stai adesso? E cosa vorresti dire alle donne che sono maltrattate?
Dopo la mia esperienza, ho scoperto che 1 donna sposata su 3 viene picchiata dal marito. E questo è un problema sociale non solo in Romania, ma in tutto il continente europeo. Questo è il motivo per cui nel mese di settembre ho lanciato la mia prima campagna sociale – “Stop violence! Start Singing”. Il messaggio è per tutte le persone che vogliono cambiare la loro vita, che si rendono conto che non possono stare in un vicolo cieco. Inoltre, ho parlato con molte donne che erano in rapporti o matrimoni tossici e ho detto loro ed ai ragazzi che è meglio prevenire una esperienza infelice che trovare una soluzione dopo.

ENGLISH / Violence against women is one of the most topical issues in the world. Your personal experience blew us away. How are you now? And what would you say to women who are mistreated by inhuman monsters?
After my experience I found out that 1 out of 3 married women are beaten by their husbands. And this is a critical social problem not only in Romania, but in the entire European continent . This is why in September I have launched my first social campaign – “Stop violence! Start Singing”. The message is for all the persons that want to change their lives , who realize that they cannot stay in a dead end. Also, I have spoken with many women that were in toxic relationships or marriages and I told them and the youngsters that it’s better to prevent an unhappy experience than to find a solution afterwards.

ITALIANO / Sperando che ora tu stia meglio sia fisicamente che psicologicamente, stai lavorando sul nuovo album. Puoi dirci qualcosa?
Sto lavorando ad un nuovo album e spero di lanciarlo entro la fine dell’anno. Dopo “Thanks for leaving”, sto preparando un altro brano che è più vicino alla musica dance e più colorata. Speriamo. Sarà pronto in poche settimane.

ENGLISH / Hoping that now you can feel better both physically and psychologically, you’re working on your new album. Can you tell us something?
I’m working at a new album and I hope I will launch it by the end of the year. After “Thanks for leaving”, I’m preparing another song that it’s closer to the dance music and more colourful. Hopefully. It will be ready in a few weeks.

ITALIANO / Se dovessi scegliere un artista internazionale con cui duettare, chi sceglieresti?
Ci sono tanti buoni artisti, è molto difficile scegliere. Mi piacerebbe molto un duetto con Pharrell Williams, Avicii o Coldplay.

ENGLISH / If you had to choose an international artist to duet with, who would you choose?
It`s a tough question, because there are so many good artists. I would really love a duet with Pharrell Williams, Avicii or Coldplay. But there are so many artists that it’s very hard to choose.

ITALIANO / Hai dei progetti per il futuro dopo l’uscita di Thanks for leaving? Vorresti venire ad esibirti in Italia?
Certo, io amo l’Italia e, come probabilmente sapete, io parlo italiano. Mi sento come a casa quando vengo in Italia e presto verrò per presentare il mio nuovo singolo. In poche settimane!

ENGLISH / Do you have plans for the future after the release of Thanks for leaving? Will you come to perform in Italy?
Of course, I love Italy and as you probably know, I speak Italian. I feel like I`m at home when I go to Italy and soon I will come to presenting my new single. In a few weeks! Kisses!
